Ready to lead?

Undoubtedly a first in American politics...Britney Spears in a political ad.

NOTE FROM A SUPPORTER: "The “Celeb” ad was the number one most viewed video on YouTube yesterday [7/31/2008]. Could it be because it features the biggest celebrity in the world? According to YouTube stats, the ad is also number one in the Netherlands, number four in Canada and number eight in Germany."

Fans VS. Supporters --> discuss amongst yourselves. How could Sen. Obama gather 30,000-plus people at a Philadelphia rally, yet lose the city/state in the primary?

  1. I have to comment on the videos. I think the first one is really well done, but the second one is silly. Out of all the celebrities they pull Britney Spears who is known for being mentally insane, and Paris Hilton who is a ditz and recently out of jail? When I first saw it I thought it was kind of a low political blow. I'm not pro Obama or anything, but just surprised by the video. He has put himself in the celebrity circuit, but at the same time I feel like it's not necessarily a terrible move, being able to reach out to more people through publisizing himself in many media genres. My say has ended. Peace out.

  2. The funny thing is that I think the celebrities were perfectly chosen. A lot of people said, well why not pick a black celebrity, like Will Smith or Denzel Washington. It would be an unfair comparison, they earned their celebrity status. The point of using Britney and Paris is that they are famous for being famous. That is what the commercial is saying. Not just that Obama is famous, but that he is famous and never done anything. So for me the celebrity choice was perfect.

  3. Interesting thought. Paris I agree with, and the whole "didn't earn his status" I agree with, but despite Britney's antics she really has had an amazing career with a whole slew of #1 albums, and the mental disorders have put her in the tabloids lately. Maybe they should have put someone else like Nicole Ritchie... I worry about him becoming our president because he keeps lying about so many things and making himself out to be the "change" hero without having passed any major bills (as far as I know).

J- Have you seen the jibjab on Obama and McCain? It's pretty funny.

  4. Clarification: I was referring to Obama being the change hero.
